With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved father, retired Lion John Grimstone, who passed away on 14 May 2025.
Dad was deeply passionate about raising awareness for prostate cancer. In 2004, he founded the Lions Prostate Cancer Research & Treatment Project and was instrumental in its success. His tireless efforts helped raise much-needed funds for life-saving research and medical equipment — making a lasting impact in the fight against prostate cancer.
To honour Dad’s legacy, we kindly ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mater Foundation. Your gift will help continue the important work he cared so deeply about — improving early detection and treatment of prostate cancer.
Making a donation in his memory is a heartfelt way to celebrate his life and ensure that his dedication continues to make a difference for others.

John was truely an exceptional human. His contribution as a Lion, his work establishing and developing Lion’s impact on prostate cancer awareness and funding for research was extraordinary. We can only guess to how many lives he contributed to saving! It was a honour and privilege to know you and work with you .
