International Women's Day Fun Run presented by Queensland X-Ray

Thanks to my support crew

In March I will walk 5km in the 2026 Mater Chicks in Pink fun run raising vital funds towards breast cancer research and support.  To date, with the support of generous donations from the following people:
The Canberra Crew - my sister-in-law and her family;
Sandra Oram; Eve Dunn; Kim Byron; Stacey Walsh; Terry & Lana Killian; Eleanor Chaille; Helen Perrin; Harry Drynan; Janet Pearce; Sarah & Mark Connors; Alison Orr; Lisa Davis: Sammy Golleschewski; Naomi Murphy; Sally McKeering & Family and an anonymous donor, we have raised enough money to provide 6.5 hours of research time in a lab.

Our efforts will help to advance research that will improve targeted treatment, provide practical support and ensure a breast cancer nurse is by the side of women who need them.

I can't thank my sponsors enough.  I KNOW this money will go to a great cause.

This year, it's very personal!!!

Since I've walked 5km and fundraised over $1000 in 2025 towards the Mater Chicks in Pink, our niece Stacey has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Towards the end of the year she had a radical double mastectomy and has one more round of chemo to complete.
In March she will undergo further radiation treatment.  Stacey is a mum, wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunty, daycare mum and friend.  We are so proud of her and the way she has faced "the Big C".  It certainly picked the wrong girl.,
Help me raise funds for the Mather Chicks in Pink to support other women like Stacey, as they tackle this disease head on.
Even if you can spare $5.  Every little bit adds up.  Thank you, Catherine

I’m part of the International Women’s Day Fun Run!

I'm raising funds to support women with breast cancer now and into the future. This is a cause close to my heart as so many women I know, including my Mum, have been diagnosed with and battled against this insidious disease.

By making a donation, you can play a part in improving treatments and care for women diagnosed with breast cancer.

When you donate, you’re helping to support counselling services and supply practical items like mastectomy bras and wigs after surgery and chemotherapy.

You’ll also be supporting world leading research that focuses on improving survival rates and working towards a world where ALL women diagnosed with breast cancer survive.

Ultimately, you’ll help make life easier for women with breast cancer today and save more lives tomorrow.

As little as $65 can make a profound impact and take some of the stress off women with breast cancer and their families. Please, if you possibly can, will you donate today?

  • Thanks to your support, Catherine Wilkes has raised enough for 9.0 hours of research lab time.
