This one hits close to home... I’m part of the International Women’s Day Fun Run!

Today I’m sharing something very close to my heart.
In December 2023, I heard the words that split my life in two
“You have breast cancer.”
Not a mild kind.
Not a watch and wait kind.
An aggressive, fast growing 8 cm cancer that demanded immediate, full force treatment.
From that moment on, nothing was the same.
I spent every single day of 2024 in active treatment. Chemotherapy that stripped my body down to survival mode. Surgery that changed me forever. Immunotherapy that kept going long after the world assumed I was “done.”
There was no pause button. No chance to catch my breath. Just appointment after appointment, scan after scan, and the constant underlying fear of how much time I had and whether the treatment would be enough.
Cancer didn’t just happen to me, it happened to my husband and my daughter, and the weight they carried still breaks my heart... all the while they were trying to appear strong for me while their world was falling apart too.
Even now, the journey isn’t over. I still have another 3.5 years of daily cancer medication ahead of me. A daily reminder that cancer doesn’t politely exit. It stays. It lingers.
It lives in your body.
In your nervous system.
In your thoughts when the house is quiet.
In the way you flinch at every new pain.
In the way safety no longer feels guaranteed.
Cancer doesn’t just attack your body.
It dismantles your sense of certainty.
It changes how people see you.
And it changes how you see yourself.
It rocks you to your core in ways that are impossible to explain unless you’ve lived it.
And yet… here I am.
Still standing.
Still showing up.
Still moving forward, even when it’s heavy.
In March 2026, I’ll be participating in the International Women’s Day Fun Run in Townsville, joining a Sea of Pink alongside thousands of women. Survivors. Fighters. Supporters. Daughters. Mothers. Sisters. Friends.
Each day, 57 women are told they have breast cancer.
Each day, 9 women lose their lives to it.
Those numbers used to feel abstract.
Now, they feel deeply personal.
This run isn’t about fitness.
It’s about hope.
It’s about funding research, care, support services, and better outcomes.
It’s about giving women a fighting chance when their world collapses overnight.
It’s about making sure more women get to keep living their lives. With their families. Their dreams. Their futures still intact.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply cheer me on, please know it truly matters. Every contribution helps fund critical equipment, treatment, and research for women walking this path right now. Including the women who will receive a diagnosis tomorrow.
I’ll be running for the woman I was before cancer.
For the woman cancer tried to break.
For the women still in treatment.
For the women we’ve lost.
And for the women who don’t yet know what’s coming.
Thank you for standing with me.
Thank you for holding space for this journey.
Thank you for helping me turn pain into purpose.
Thank you for helping us make waves 💗

Hi Mel! As a woman who survived breast cancer 20 years ago I absolutely know where you are at. I had to go through it all. Mastectomy, intense chemo, radiotherapy and meds afterwards. And yes it does effect you the rest of your life but I am so grateful to have that life! Many don't. I'm sending you healing love as well as a bit of a donation to help!
